This bi-annual event was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors...and a chance to win some awesome prizes! At this hunt, you not only get access to EXCLUSIVE content from each author, you also get a numerical clue for the hunt. SCAVENGER HUNT POST
Today, I am hosting the lovely Tobie Easton on my website for the YA Scavenger Hunt! Tobie was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, where she’s grown from a little girl who dreamed about magic to a twenty-something who writes about it. A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Southern California, Tobie hosts book clubs for tweens and teens. Tobie’s YA contemporary fantasy EMERGE (Book 1 in the anticipated Mer Chronicles series) offers a peek into a world where mermaids aren’t just real, but live secretly among us.
Want to hear 5 things about Tobie that I've recently learned? Thought you'd never asked! ;)
- She has a cool collection of blazers--I kid you not!
- She's busy working on Book 2 of her Mer Chronicles
- She suffered a leg-muscle injury because of a mermaid tail
- She has VIDEO of said mermaid tail here!
- Aaaand...she's one of the sweetest persons I've ever met!
So let's get to the even better stuff, shall we?
Read about Tobie's book and then scroll down to see her EXCLUSIVE content!
Lia Nautilus may be a Mermaid but she's never lived in the ocean. War has ravaged the seven seas ever since the infamous Little Mermaid unleashed a curse that stripped Mer of their immortality. Lia has grown up in a secret community of land-dwelling Mer hidden among Malibu's seaside mansions. Her biggest problems are surviving P.E. and keeping her feelings for Clay Ericson in check. Sure, he's gorgeous in that cocky, leather jacket sort of way and makes her feel like there's a school of fish swimming in her stomach, but getting involved with a human could put Lia's entire community at risk. So it's for the best that he's dating that new girl, right?
That is, until Lia finds out she isn't the only one at school keeping a potentially deadly secret. And this new girl? Her eyes are dead set on Clay, who doesn't realize the danger he's in. If Lia hopes to save him, she'll have to get closer to Clay. Lia's parents would totally flip if they found out she was falling for a human boy, but the more time she spends with him, the harder it is for her to deny her feelings. After making a horrible mistake, Lia will risk everything to stop Clay from falling in love with the wrong girl.
EMERGE is available everywhere...check out her buy links here!
So here's what you've been waiting for! From Tobie herself:
Hi, all! Last YASH, I featured this mood board for Caspian Zayle, one of the mermen from Emerge (Book 1 in the Mer Chronicles series). Caspian is the protagonist Lia’s best friend.
This time, by popular demand, the YASH exclusive content is a mood board of inspiration for human bad boy Clay Ericson—who Lia will risk everything to save. So excited to finally share it with you!!
Is this how you picture Caspian and Clay? Do you have a favorite image from the boards? Have you been imagining a certain actor for either of them? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter or Instagram (@TobieEaston).
Yay! Thank you, Tobie! xx
